Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent Tears into Lindsey Graham Rumors and Nancy Mace’s ‘Silicon Valley’ Chest at NSFW Roast

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent took some surprisingly personal shots at fellow Republicans during a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in South Carolina last week.
According to multiple accounts from the annual event, held at Hibernian Hall in Charleston, Bessent, 63, earned big laughs by mocking Sen. Lindsey Graham, Rep. Nancy Mace and even President Donald Trump himself.
Reading a prepared statement from Graham, who was unable to attend, Bessent joked that, following Trump’s military efforts in Iran and Cuba, “Ireland’s next.”
Bessent, who was born and raised in South Carolina, then reportedly took aim at Graham, the state’s senior senator.
“The reason Lindsey Graham isn’t married is he has no first cousins in the Upstate,” he joked.

Rumors about Graham’s sexual orientation have followed him throughout his political career. Bessent is the first openly gay Cabinet member to serve under a Republican president.
As for Mace, a frontrunner in the state’s gubernatorial race who has made headlines over the last year for berating airport police, arguing with a constituent in a beauty store, shouting a transphobic slur at a colleague and more, Bessent joked that the congresswoman had made headlines on that particular day by “not doing anything crazy.”
He continued by reportedly saying, “In California, Silicon Valley is where they make the computers. In South Carolina, Silicon Valley is the space between Nancy Mace’s tits.”

While multiple accounts confirmed the wording of the joke to FITSNews, a South Carolina-based outlet, one source said Bessent didn’t say “tits.”
“He said it was the space between her chest,” the source told FITSNews.
Representatives for Mace, Graham and the Treasury Department did not immediately respond when PEOPLE reached out for comment.

It’s not the first time Bessent has raised eyebrows with his rhetoric.
Last September, Politico reported that, during a dinner attended by top Trump advisers at a members-only club in Georgetown, Bessent heard that Federal Housing Finance Agency director Bill Pulte was badmouthing him to the president.
According to the outlet, Bessent began threatening Pulte, 37, saying, “Why the f— are you talking to the president about me? F— you… I’m gonna punch you in your f—in’ face.”
It’s unclear who initiated the conversation, Politico reported, adding that the club’s co-owner and financier, Omeed Malik, intervened in the dispute. Bessent reportedly told Malik, “It’s either me or him. You tell me who’s getting the f— out of here.”
“Or,” he suggested, “we could go outside.”
According to Politico, Pulte replied, “To do what? To talk?”
“No,” Bessent allegedly said. “I’m going to f—ing beat your ass.”
Ultimately, the two men were seated at opposite ends of the table during the dinner and the night continued without any further drama, Politico noted.
