Miley Cyrus Playfully Teases Alex Cooper for Not Knowing Lyrics to Her Favorite Hannah Montana Song, Despite Tattoo Homage

Alex Cooper may be a Hannah Montana superfan, but she can admit to gaps in her knowledge — and she was even willing to admit it to Miley Cyrus herself.

The Disney Legend, 33, sat down with Variety ahead of the upcoming Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, which is hosted by Cooper, 31. In addition to the interview, the outlet also quizzed Cyrus on how well she remembers lyrics from songs she performed as the iconic, blonde wig-wearing Disney Channel character.

Cyrus easily identified the words to Hannah’s hit “Rockstar” in Variety‘s YouTube video — “Tai Chi practicing, snowboard champion/I could fix the flat on your car” — and gave a special shoutout to the Call Her Daddy host.

“I know this because this is Alex Cooper, who hosted the Hannah 20th Special, this is her favorite Hannah Montana song,” said Cyrus. “I asked her, does she actually know the lyrics to it? And she never knew that it says ‘Tai Chi practicing, snowboard champion.'”

With a smile, she added of Cooper, “She does have it tattooed on her arms, so I don’t know how she forgot.”

In the Variety article, Cyrus further discussed her experience collaborating with Cooper, who was able to communicate what fans wanted to see in the upcoming special, which premieres on Tuesday, March 24. The “Flowers” singer credited Cooper with arranging an appearance from Selena Gomez, 33, as part of the celebration.

“I love Selena, but I didn’t know how much our friendship meant to the fans,” Cyrus told the outlet, confirming Gomez’s participation. The fellow former child star was best known on Disney Channel as the star of Wizards of Waverly Place, but she also had a recurring role on Hannah Montana as a rival pop star named Mikayla.

Beyond Gomez’s special appearance, Cyrus also told Variety that Cooper encouraged her to open the special by driving from Malibu to the soundstage.

“I didn’t think about the correlation between Hannah’s house in Malibu and my house in Malibu,” Cyrus explained, adding, “And my house burning down and me rebuilding.”
